International Women's Day

March 8, 2006
Code Pink Orange County Chapter
Orange, CA
we had a FABULOUS turnout for our International Women's Day Say NO to War event on March 8th! It was held at the Traffic Circle in Old Towne Orange, in Orange County, California (not far from Disneyland). Over 100 women, men, and children came to our event with signs, candles and balloons! Besides us OC Code Pinkers, there were Orange County chapters of the National Organization for Women, Women in Black, Military Families Speak Out, and the American Association of University Women. Additionally, Women For Orange County (a peace and social justice advocacy group), Iranian Women of Orange County, members from Cal State Fullerton University'sThird Wave, and even an enthusiastic group of male high school students all came to voice their opposition to the war in Iraq. We had local news reporters and photographers there as well. We felt empowered as a majority of vehicles passing by honked in support, which is amazing considering that we were in the heart of conservative Rebublican country!
