March 8th - Triangle CODEPINK asked Senator Dole’s Raleigh Office for Help:
In recognition of UN International Women’s Day Triangle CODEPINK’s Allyson Caison, Stephanie Eriksen, Shannon Hardy, Ann Rothe, and Christina Stableford all met with Samantha Edwards, Constituent Service Representative for Senator Dole’s Raleigh Office. She and intern, Jason, were very receptive to our visit and engaged in a thoughtful discussion regarding two primary issues we believe are deserving of Senator Dole’s attention:
(1) CODEPINK asked for a freeze on flights and an investigation into Aero Contractors’ “torture flights” originating out of Johnston County and Kinston Airports.
(2) CODEPINK also asked for Sen. Dole’s office to help in providing U.S. visas for two Iraqi women, Vivian Salim Mati and Anwar Kadhim Jawad, whose families were killed by U.S. fire. At this time both women are being denied access to U.S. visas on the grounds that they do not have enough family in Iraq to guarantee their return to Iraq.
