Women's Inter'l Day

Women In Black
Santa Fe, NM
I joined Dominique's group women in Black and Code Pink. We held signs: Grandmother's for Peace, Any War is Terrorism. The local newspaper, The New Mexican took photos... there were about 15-20 of us, mostly women. We walked in silence from one part of Santa Fe to another (the Plaza)... it was so powerful walking slowly, with these signs, in silence. Without speaking, a very deep message resonated between us and people passing in their cars... you could just feel it... I could feel how hungry the people of America are for someone to take action to stop this craziness... and I do believe it is the Soul of women who can do it... holding both sides (all sides) in our hearts... Here's a poem that Dominique gave out to us written by a 4th grader, Cameron Penny from Michigan..."If you are lucky in this life, A window will appear on the battlefield between two armies, And when the soldiers look into the window They don't see their enemies, They see themselves as children, And they s top fighting, And go home and go to sleep. When they wake up, the land is well again."

Another quote she gave us to set the right tone before we walked...."Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe you must become its soul." - Coretta Scott King

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for organizing all of us and getting us going...
