The Bring Our War $$ Home campaign is directly inspired by CODEPINK's
"…to end U.S. funded wars and occupations, to challenge
militarism globally, and to redirect our resources into health care, education,
green jobs and other life-affirming activities."
CODEPINK's BOW$H campaign had a national victory in 2011 when the US Conference
of Mayors passed our War
Dollars Home resolution, the first such resolution since the Vietnam
War, showing civic leaders' (and their constituents') desire for our taxes
to be spent on domestic needs, not endless war.
The 2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), at over $600 billion
for a single year, consumes nearly 60% of the entire federal discretionary
budget during a bleak period when the US economy suffers from record levels
of long-term unemployment, home foreclosures, college student indebtedness,
and deep cuts to education and social services. The so-called "fiscal
cliff" is a mostly media-driven crisis, but the drain of US taxpayers'
hard-earned money away from genuine needs, and into the coffers of war
profiteers, is a long-lasting structural economic problem. For a brief,
clever explanation of the federal budget and war costs, please watch and

of Broke" on the right above

CODEPINK is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end U.S. funded wars and occupations, to challenge militarism globally, and to redirect our resources into health care, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities. The name CODEPINK satirized the Bush Administration's color-coded, fear-mongering "security" alert system that has since been phased out. CODEPINK is a lively call for the people of the world to "wage peace." More...
